Do you get severance or compensation from agencies if they let you go and you're at a more junior level? Specifically for agency holding companies like Dentsu and Omnicom
Just got my exit offer, approx. 30% increase in TC to work for a pre-IPO tech company with better WLB and growth opportunity. At D, I feel overworked and underpaid / underleveles. But I am sad to leave my team and will weirdly miss this place. Stockholm syndrome?
Just got my annual bonus.. looking to splurge on an espresso machine. Does anyone have any recommendations on specific models, auto vs semi auto? And my budget is $500-$1500
I have an offer for a senior associate role at a $1B private equity. Currently a manager though, so a downgrade. Getting pay rise. Pros and cons of losing title?
Are people back to handshaking?!? I’m meeting a client for the first time in person and unsure if I should go in for the shake. I don’t want to make them feel uncomfortable but also I feel it’s so awkward not to when meeting someone
Had an interview which I felt very good after, and I am so surprised that they decided to not forward. The interviewer even mentioned that I had great stories, could it be the questions I asked?
Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
Hello! I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!
Im an associate at a small firm. I’m potentially referring a significant contingency fee lawsuit to another firm. Can I have the other firm pay a referral fee to me directly to me if they prevail or settle? Do I have an obligation to notify my firm I’m referring a case? I know my firm doesn’t have any conflicts because we are a small firm with very few clients in a completely different practice area. My state bar’s ethics rules doesn’t address this. Thoughts?
Compensation discussion: any downside to bringing up the offer I have? Current compensation is $109 w bonus, offer is $125. I want to have the option of staying even if/when they say no.
Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?
I tried to handle a mental health issue on my own, but failed and am at a breaking point. My work is clearly suffering, but I have no medical history to request FMLA or accomodation. What should I do? Request unpaid, unprotected leave? Get a psychiatrist and try to treat now while hoping to improve at work? Something else? Before you ask: taking a week off to recharge won't work. Self-harm isn't an issue beyond risk of failed self-medication.
Is the worst over? How is everyone’s firm doing? MBB, Deloitte, Strategy&, EYP, Accenture, etc
How did you get your job? Through personal connections & networking or through applying online? Trying to get a count
The greatest alarm has come from scientists, epidemiologists and health experts: "To be a week into these restrictions and already be talking about abandoning them is irresponsible and dangerous." https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/03/24/coronavirus-strategy-economy-debate/
Have a friend looking to fill a Product Marketing Manager opening at a rapidly growing fin tech startup called Origami Risk. CHI, DEN, or ATL. Anyone interested? Happy to pass resume along.
Desi Consultants!! - who all are thinking of hiring Sima Taparia (after watching Indian matchmaking on Netflix) for finding your future significant other?
Expecting our first baby soon. What are some things/gifts I can get him or things we can do that will be special, that he can use throughout childhood or even remember throughout life? Feel like we’ve been scrambling to nail the essentials to keep him alive but haven’t done anything else because work has been so busy. Any special recommendations?
Honest question for 🐠 who are back to non-WFH environment... does anyone else feel going to office/client site has helped their marriage? It seems me and the wife fight less now that I am not at home 24/7... I also think I appreciate her more now than during the height of COVID WFH.
My company has pit a salary increase freeze in place, but I’m starting to hear about a few people getting promoted privately. Are these people most likely getting a title promo only?
In July I missed my promo to SM. A woman has been preferred even if she was underqualified (my MD's words), as at Accenture we have quotas for women. I'm interviewing with Deloitte, they told me I'll help building the practice. In the meantime I was assured by my MD that in December I'll get the promo. I don't really care changing company, even if I've built a network, I don't think I need to wait if I can. Your thoughts?
Does anyone else get such awful periods that you basically can’t work / get violently ill? Mine have been getting worse and worse and I’ve tried BC and hasn’t really done much for me. :(
Anyone know when holiday layoffs are being scheduled for this year? First week of December or end of January?
I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
Does anyone have insight into this? Which group is the first to have their offers rescinded in a recession if it has to come to it? Internship programs or new hire graduate programs?
I was wondering whether any US green card holders accepted into M7 programs ever get some amount of tuition reimbursement/funding/scholarships from these schools or are they treated like international students that are expected to pay full tuition. Also, how common does is it?
Hey! Can anyone assist with what can be claimed as workers comp? I was at work when I had my first episode of vertigo. Everything was spinning, wouldn't stop, and I couldn't stand or sit. I was freaking out and asked to be rushed to ER. Work paid for the ambulance. No physical injury. Insurance apparently didn't cover emergency charges. The out of pocket expense is about $2.5k and was wondering if I can claim this as workers comp. Again, no physical injury though.
Hey Fishes! I am a CA with 1.5 YOE in assurance , I have two options to choose from EY GDS-Senior 2 position-9.5lpa or Deloitte usi-ASA2 position-10.5lpa
Looking for some help with negotiating a low ball offer with another big 4 for a manager role in the same high COL city. The first offer was lower than my current salary...
Currently working at a Risk Consulting internship at one of the Big4 for the Summer. Been an enjoyable experience but honestly I’m kinda stuck on what I really want to do full time. Got a really big interest in the Tax environment as well. Majoring in Acc and MIS - Kinda can go either way with these majors. Any advice? (Also don’t think I’d be public accounting for life - So long term wise not sure which is better)
How open is EY to remote work?
India has ignored it’s poor hospital infrastructure for decades. The number of medical schools & per capita hospital beds are too low compared to the population size. Lots of brain drain. The best & trained doctors are moving abroad. I hope we learn from this & govt does something about this.
Has anyone signed an offer letter and later rejected because you got a better offer elsewhere? I received an offer from B4 and have to provide my response by tomorrow. I’m still waiting to see if I will receive an offer from a smaller firm, because that’s where I actually want to work after learning about the project and meeting the team. Also the salary we spoke about is about $20k more than what B4 offered.
