Do you know what first years at the firm make? Otherwise, this is golden.

To me seems bit low but could be good for the area. Minimum billables are sometimes BS people actually bill a lot more so double check

This is very similar to my current job. Like, nearly identical. It’s solid, so long as the 1700 target is respected.

like

Not sure, I think 175k

Depends how much nonbillable you are also expected to do.

Likely solid but need more info. This is pretty good if north or rural Florida. Maybe low for South Florida.

I think it’s a bit low. Given a choice, I would work that extra 10-15% extra hours per year for a good 60-70% extra base comp. This is without considering market bonus.

If you’re over biglaw, which I almost am, then you can find a job with that comp but much lower billable requirements.

Whenever I got promoted to digital ACD a few years ago, I noticed my pay was much lower than I expected for the market I’m in, hard to find skillsets, performance, and visibility I’ve brought to the agency. I’ve brought this up a few times and was told HR would do research into salary equity, but the convo always fades. I put my foot down with my GCD, and she supports me, but I would like to come to the table with my own research. Where should I be looking for accuracy?

I’m a second year in general litigation. I’ve been drafting briefs, memos, letters, motions, etc. but I’m getting the documents back with a lot of redline. From what I see, majority of my research, thoughts, and substance is there but it doesn’t feel good seeing all those redlines. Is it normal to see all those redlines or am I doing something wrong?

First year trainee here. Having the standard wobbles but generally surviving.

My question is - how can I tell if I'm doing well? More specifically, what common and avoidable mistakes (specific or general) do trainees make, and what attitude or actions impress you?

Recently overheard some associates complaining about another trainee and now I have the fear... I want to get this right. Thanks in advance.

I’m currently a 2nd year associate in commercial finance. I’ve realized I don’t enjoy a a strictly transactional practice. I enjoyed litigation matters as a summer (particularly the adversarial nature). Also, love talking and advising clients. I don’t want the litigation lifestyle and appreciate the in-house opportunities of transactional. Assuming that I could switch (or lateral), I’m thinking I may enjoy employment (and the ability to defend and train/advise). I appreciate any insight.
