Seems like a lot of pitches these days are won by leadership’s relationship/impression. The creative seems to matter less and less. So the moral is don’t feel bad if you lose, and don’t trust it if you win 😂😂😂
I mean creative should be a big part of why a pitch is one but there are a ton of other, equally important aspects including the quality of the relationship, ability to take direction, capabilities etc.
Wish you would post the Agency for everyone. Sounds like 180LA to me 😆
They keep blaming it on the fee, but is that really the reason?
D5 1 I’ve seen that deck. Pretty funny when you have to try and execute, isn’t it.
For those who are saying that the fee isn’t the reason that agencies are losing pitches are mistaken. More often than not right now, it is all about the financial negotiations and not really about the work. Budgets are shrinking all around and some agencies are so desperate for clients that they will offer them deals that don’t even allow them to break even. They bet on being able to upsell and gain incremental work, but it’s a terrible strategy given today’s economy. VW is a great example of this

On the bright side, better to lose pitches than clients. 🤷♂️
Lol true... but if you’re doing both?! Whew boy
With so many clients choosing 5-7 finalists, there’s a lot of lost pitches going around. It’s BS.
On the bright side, could be here in SF where you constantly win things that turn out to be nothing. The money goes away, or the client makes their own campaign, etc.
Omg you’ve worked with google too?
Before we pitch we always assess where we sit going in. There are fewer and fewer legit pitches going on, meaning you’re often a data point versus a real contender. Also, often there’s a favorite but the pitch has to happen to make procurement happy. And, sometimes you lose because of client politics, having nothing to do with the pitch.
