Yep. I’ve done it a couple times. It’s great at first, you bring a bunch of new approaches and a fresh and tested perspective. Colleagues love the new ideas and it seems like you’re on the track to be mayor of the new agency. Then it sucks. The amateurs eventual try to tear you down as they feel threatened by your success and have no comparable experience to draw upon to defend they’re tired contributions.
The not getting better creatively part is the biggest kicker
Agreed. I’m in a similar situation. It’s tricky because I feel like the leadership responsibilities are great and needed at this point of my career, but without the awesome work that comes with it, I feel like my options to getting into a better agency will be limited.
^yes and then you feel like you’re not growing or learning from anyone around you
What’s awful about it?
Lemme guess, you have freedom but you have to treat them like kindergarteners.
@Director 1 the work is worse than at my last shop. Leading more but on worse projects.
You won’t any time soon. Unless they hire a big gun from another shop, you’re stuck with who you got.
