I prioritized titles and money over work life balance. If I could go back I would definitely suggest work life balance. You can't grind forever.
I would tell myself don’t miss the important things, put family 1st always. Take your vacation and sick days. At the end of the day we are all replaceable and it’s just a job.
The opinions of others. The amount of time I’ve spent trying to please other people who didn’t matter is sickening. I wish I could go back in time and spend that time worrying about other people and instead worry about building my skills and networking.
I worked so hard I didn't have a career plan. Working hard is not enough. You need to be lucky to be an asset to your manager. The manager gets promoted and you get promoted. Follow the winners. Think strategically. Anything wonderful you do in Nov and Dec doesn't count to your promotion, raise or bonus. Decided already. Take your vacation days. Staying late doesn't make you a better worker. Actually, if you are working during the weekend, make it so your Teams status says, "Appear Away". Never send emails off hours. Use Optional - Delay - Do not send before next day 9am. It works great. You are a great worker with time and doesn't need to work on the weekends to make milestones. Don't complain about other people. Be visible. Use LLM. Use Teams. Be the "worker of yes". Say yes every time and most likely you don't need to do 50% of it. But say yes anyway,
