Is it worth it to you?
For the record, I've known plenty of people who took lower titles to get into better shops. I know CDs/ACDs who took senior creative titles just because that jump got them into the W+K office.
- Is the pay the same / better than where you were before?
- Is it worth it to you to have a “better known” agency on your resume?
- Is there room for fast growth?
- Do you have other options? In this economy, jobs are hard to come by but also don’t settle for something just because it’s your only option at the time.
That wouldn't be worth it to me. If you really want to work at said company, then maybe it is worht it to get your foot in the door. But I have never seen someone going backward and it actually pay off in the long run.
Is the money at least close to what you’re currently getting?
If you think the name recognition will help long term than take the role, but with caveats… don’t connect with anyone from the company on LinkedIn while you’re there… turn off your LinkedIn self-announcements… and when you’re ready to jump ship, simply change your title to what you want it to be so when recruiters see it, you’re at the title you should be.
