Hi ladies! First gen Latina corporate lawyer here. I’ll be relocating from DC to NYC soon. Recognizing how hard it is to find diversity in the workplace even in the most diverse cities, I’ve joined this bowl in hopes of contributing to building a community among my fellow Latina lawyers. Happy to chat virtually or grab a coffee anytime.

Would you consider mentoring a young Latina who is just a senior in high school school? I am developing an app to match Latina lawyers to Latina High school students eager to speak to a Latina in Law about what to expect in college etc. We need to increase the number of Latinas in Law from a sad low 2% Be happy to grab a virtual coffee with you anytime. Here in Michigan. So we are both EST.

The concept of PAR can be applied to racial equity and inclusion work as:
Privilege
Accountability
Responsibility

Privilege is reinforced over time - it does not happen suddenly!

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.

Ladies: looking for gym recommendations. Me: mid-40s, out of shape mom. I have chronic acid reflux that does get in the way of workouts at times. Location: Tarrytown/ Westlake ideal. Can travel as far north as the Central Market on N Lamar and as far south as the Central Market off of Westgate.

Hi! I am super new to this app and I see a consistent ask about latina(x) mentors. Has anyone been able to find one and how? I am still looking and frankly could you use all the support. I am the only latina in my office and culturally sometimes I hit these invisible walls that make me feel so incredibly self conscious. I am the first to have a degree in my family so they do support me but there’s a huge gap. I want to know how to navigate big law/private practice without losing myself & culture

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗
