I am not good in trading. Earlier had some with motilal oswal, have to check it's status and close as Citi does not permit trading outside I guess.

What sense does it make to hire people when you can retrain people. This is a sign of a highly selfish organization. Add to that there is no flattening, I was a part of a team where a newly hired SVP was retained while my TL who was a VP was let go as he could teach the head of function who was a D a thing or two. Also C11s were fired under the same D, a C11 in India makes 4-5% salary of a D sitting in London. What logic is this?
Layoffs is part of restructuring to flatten the layer and reduce multiple reporting lines. Hiring has nothing to do with it. They may be hiring for new roles that were a result of restructured teams from, new projects, backfills etc. Layoffcan slow down hiring but hiring never stos, it could only freeze temporarily.
Layoffs are part of reorganization process.
Hiring is part of business development.
Bullshit logic but this is it.
