Where is your office?
All else equal, I’d recommend South End, on the Back Bay side (no farther than Shawmut or Dwight if you want to stay close to transit and restaurants). South End has better restaurants and a cozier vibe than Back Bay; you’ll also get more apartment space for the same price. Let me know if you need broker recs.
Seaport is nice and modern, vs the typical cozy Boston feel, but $$$ and limited on public transportation routes depending on where you’re headed (you can always just go hang out there on evenings out).
Most single folks live all over the city and just hop around on dates. City is not too big 😊
Oh yeah, I forgot about the 1. Good call.
Budget is needed to answer this. Also consider living in Cambridge if you want a more quirky vibe.
Cambridge is too expensive to be quirky any more. All the good filth and weird places are priced out
M/F? There's more women than men in Boston so dating favors men
Oh god I’m moving from nyc to boston too, but I’m F. Great I thought nyc was bad with models and actresses everywhere 😂😂
If you’re working in Kendall square check the EZ ride and Alexandria bus loops. They are super nice and convenient.
Cambridge is great for dating if you like people with PhDs
Thanks everyone - $3-3.2K budget and looking for a 1 bed ideally. Office in Cambridge
I would consider southie if you need red line access to cambridge (unless you’re ok with the bus)
Do you care what your commute looks like? The red line is the best mode of transit in and out of Cambridge if you think you will ever physically go on-site. If commute doesn’t matter, I copy what everyone is saying with South End. It’s where all the restaurants are, and the buildings are beautiful.
Agree with this 100%. If you need redline access, you could pick a spot in south end close to orange line (think Clarendon street between Columbus and Tremont) and the commute wouldn’t be bad even with a line change at south station. If you want to be close to beach, you could consider southie as that’s also on red line. Not as refined as south end though.
Also check out the West End (near the Whole Foods in Cambridge st in. Boston) and the new apartments over TD garden (near the new stop and shop). I lived in the West End for 5 years and LOVED it. Easy access to everything.
I live in the west end. My building is primarily elderly folks and medical professionals. Definitely not an ideal place to meet young people. With that said, the location is great - you’re right in the center of everything and walking distance from red/green lines.
Cambridge is the best live near work so you don’t have to commute and it’s a quick Uber / train ride to Boston
What’s your budget?
Why not living in Cambridge? It’s more alive than Boston.
