Yup! It was harder than I expected. I really like having specific spaces for specific things, so condensing everything into one room was tough.
How did you manage? Did you have to throw/sell some things? Store things in storage?
I went from a two-bedroom loft to a one-bedroom and it was not fun, now this was right before the lockdowns so I ended up spending a ton more time in my apartment than I ever had so that really didn't help matters
I did! I had to adopt a minimalist strategy. It was relieving, throwing a lot of things that were not necessary. Of course, I would prefer more space, but I also have the necessary. The transition was hard initially, but after assessing all my items, it made my life easier.
Here! It was difficult to fit all my belongings so it really did make me keep only the important stuff. But personally, it's more efficient to live in a studio. I kept things simple and organized and I couldn't be happier.
It takes some rime to get used to. I love me a good ooen-concept floor plan, but having my bed in plain sight wasn't what I was hoping for. I had to use shelves to divide the space more and make it more functional as opposed to having every space invading each other.
I did a long time ago and it wasn't that bad regarding space because I couldn't afford anything, so I didn't add anything in terms of furniture and stuff. The hardest thing I found was having my bed in the center of everything and not having a separate space when i just wanted time alone. But it was fine and it worked.
I went from a 3 bedroom row home all to myself to a one bedroom apartment. It was a lot of rearranging stuff, letting go of some furniture to friends/thrift/Facebook marketplace.
I liked having a separate office, so the hardest thing for me was reworking my spaces to feel separate in the condensed space. I moved 3 months ago and still rearranging things if I feel like they’re not working for me (ie just parted with my dining table in exchange for a kitchen island bc it worked better for my small space)
It's not too bad really, I think the big change is the stuff you cook. Studios make it harder since the smell lingers. I did donate some furniture before moving to make it work space wise
