Who the hell would ever want to be a cop
Not me
"Stop!"
*stops
"Drop It!"

"Show me your hands!"
*raises hands
"Turn around!"

Yeah, definitely a "split second life or death scenario" 🤦🏽♂️

I’m as liberal and supportive of BLM as they come. And I do think the police on the whole have problems with their culture and practices.
But this is not the same as the killings of Floyd and Daunte. The situation was a police call out to shots fired, in a neighborhood known to be riddled with gang activity. The suspect - unknown to be a minor at the time - was observed to drop his gun, yes, and the officer could possibly have shown more restraint but the situation was dynamic and the threat uncertain. I think I read that there was a second suspect somewhere around and the cops weren’t in control of the situation.
This is much more like the regrettable, but lawful, killing of Ashli Babbitt on 1/6 than traffic stops turned into homicides.

No, but he did refrain from shooting for roughly a minute (it’s been a while since I watched it) until he had no other choice. In this case, the officer fired within ~20 seconds of leaving his vehicle, and the subject had already complied with his orders to stop, drop the weapon, etc.
You’re just giving more examples of why they’re not an apt comparison.

It’s a tragic story for sure. We have to discuss all aspects of the shooting too, like what is a 13 year old doing walking outside with a 21 year old @ 2-3 am, while playing with a gun? As a POC, we can’t always lump all shootings into the same category.
My heart goes to his family and I do not believe the cop should have shot, to be clear. But I also know that the boy had a gun in his hand just prior to turning around so we have to factor that in too.

Cool that you can justify the police executing a 13yo. But hey, being a POC yourself makes it all ok.

There’s nothing to understand - some people in this country have a blind worship of law enforcement and military. It’s some weird Freudian association with being macho and thinking they look cool by defending the bully.

Conservatives really trying to have it both ways. They say that we as a society just need to deal with the daily threat of being killed in a mass shooting because the second amendment right takes precedent to the safety of society. While also saying that cops can shoot you if they think you have a gun because they feel threatened.
The obvious solution is simply to have less guns on society.
Who besides the NRA and it’s supporters “encourages gun ownership?”
