They have to open up at some point, but I don’t think anyone can expect that social distancing is going to occur with our toddlers in relation to other kiddos or the teachers. I think the beat we can hope for is increased cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Daycares have always been a breeding ground for sickness and I’m not sure it’s possible to change that
Ours posted an updated plan of action today. They are providing all staff with reusable masks, adding hand sanitizer to all rooms and play areas, more frequent hand washing and disinfecting common areas, implementing drop-off & pick-up areas for parents/teachers will escort children there, adding more tables/space between children during mealtime, and checking temps/symptoms every AM and at random times throughout the day.
Though I’m still anxious and afraid for my toddler to go back especially since I also have a 2 month old at home, hearing this plan eases them a tiny bit. Still no date of reopening but they will continue to adjust up until that point. We’re in NYC.
I agree. I wasn’t going to send mine back either unless I heard a plan. Ours is a corporate center so I’m sure they have stricter measures they have to meet in order to even think about reopening. Hope yours sends something soon!
I do think there will be another closure in the fall with the second wave.
I think so too. So that’s making me think about whether we should get a nanny instead
