Biglaw litigation partner here. I often feel like my job is to be worried half to death: for my cases, for my clients, for my firm. Work is often what keeps me up or wakes me up at night. I see some people in the corporate world say that when they stopped caring so much their performance improved but I don’t think that works in my job. Does this feeling ever go away? Would it be good if it did? It doesn’t feel healthy.

Boutique partner here and had the same feeling. Felt like it was starting to affect my personal life so made the decision to cut back and get back to transactional. Going smaller and getting out of litigation for the most part even though I enjoy it. No amount of money is worth the benefit of spending the rest of my professional life without trying to grow a bigger practice or keep more associates busy. I can just run a small practice without as much stress, have happier clients, be more productive, and get to doing other things that I want to do in the back half.

MP1 - I’m an NEP at a commercial litigation boutique making good money for 1800 hours and enjoy aspects of litigation, but the conflict stresses me out and it’s affecting my personal life too. I’m interviewing to go in-house as a generalist but worried I’d get bored without the adrenaline rush of court. Are you happy with transactional or miss litigation? Thanks!

I interviewed with a company last week and the interviewer said he would submit my notes to the hiring manager and I would hear back this Monday from HR on next steps/if they want to move forward. I didn’t hear back yesterday so I emailed HR and she said she wasn’t part of the hiring decision so would reach out to the initial interviewer for his feedback. I haven’t heard from her and it’s been 24 hours - starting to get worried. What should I do? Does this mean they’re not interested?
