I’m very happy at a distributed law firm like FisherBroyles. I moved for happiness and the compensation is much better as we keep a high % of collections. Surprisingly the firm is more collegial than my prior BigLaw firm.
Check out Husch Blackwell. They have 1000 attorneys - it’s both brick and mortar and also has “The Link” - which is their fully virtual office, and you can practice from anywhere in the country regardless of whether there is a brick and mortar location or not. The Link is set up and managed as its own office. You get the best of both worlds, all of the resources of an AmLaw 100 firm, and if what you’re looking for is fully remote, the flexibility of the Link virtual office.
Depends what you’re looking for. Cloud-based offers a ton of flexibility and independence, plus a higher percentage of your billables. If in-office camaraderie is important to you, there’s less of that. You have to have good self-discipline to make fully remote work, of course.
I know a lot about the differences. What are your specific questions and I’m happy to share.
