I was in advertising in the 90s. It was still a drag; it was just a different kind of drag.
I miss the days when you were able to identify the brand based off of the architecture alone. You knew what a McDonald’s or Pizza Hut looked like without knowing how or needing to read.
Seriously, everything looks sterile and uncomfortable
Definitely not an intentionally minimalist design choice. This is all driven by private equity. More uniform looking buildings mean the Taco Bell can sell the land and building to a Starbucks and Starbucks barely has to do anything to the building to get it up and running.
Correcting myself - I guess it is intentionally minimalist. Just with the shittiest, greediest motives imaginable.
