Staying a weekend in October in Salt Lake for the first time. Is it worth dropping more points to stay downtown or save some by staying on the outskirts?

If you have a car then you can save some. If not, you should be downtown because the rail system is pretty minimal and they don’t have a large concept of taxis there. Very small downtown as well so unless there is little you want to do I recommend getting a car to go up into the mountains or the different areas that strike your fancy. I lived there back in college so feel free to ask any questions.

Don’t miss kneaders unlimited French toast before 11 am or the Pi pizzas. Main things I miss from eating out there

Outskirts. There’s not that much downtown.

Is there anything specific you’re interested in doing? It’s a beautiful city and downtown is fun, but if you’re looking for more outdoorsy stuff then it may not matter

A lot of good bars downtown if you like that, also the temple is worth checking out. If you're there on Sunday morning you can see the choir.

Otherwise if you like hiking more than anything else I'd stay more on the east side but it's not a far drive to any of the hikes from downtown either.

Outskirts is fine. Sheraton there is awesome actually

D1 is crazy. The Sheraton sucks bad. Marriotts or Grand America if you’re staying downtown. Place will be overrun the weekend of 10/6-7 for LDS General Conference. If you’re going that weekend especially stay out in one of the burbs

I need some guidance on this situation.

I sublease an apartment from a friend who is currently in Jail unfortunately. I wasn’t in the lease and the apartment found out from my personal check which I paid for the rent.

They refused the rent and after the three day notification has passed they refused the cashier’s check here in Orange County.

The apartment has put him up for eviction and I feel bad about this cos it was cost savings. Is there anything I can do to save this?

I just heard recently that if you refinance and your house appraises at 20% more than the amount owed, you can remove PMI. Is this correct? Getting a divorce and trying to keep the house but moving from a VA to a traditional loan and would rather not pay PMI if I don’t have to. House was purchased for $460k no money down (VA loan), refinanced at $450k to lower payments $400/month, now have $430k left on the loan... would it have to appraise for $516k?

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?
