Is working at a Big 4 really that “prestigious”? If so, why? I recruited with Big 4 (rejected by MBB) during college, but ultimately chose ACN for the pay and the culture (at least within the campus recruiting team). Did I make the wrong decision long-term?
How different is the quality of work delivered between big 4 consulting and MBB? Are the two really that far off?
Philosophical question: Has McKinsey’s brand diminished in luster? Context: Randomly was at a church picnic (socially distanced) with some baby boomer era former MBB consultants. When they found out I was in consulting (big 4), they weirdly started talking about how McKinsey’s brand value wasn’t what it used to be to clients and for exit opportunities. Silly gripes or true?
Are any of the big 4 firms seen below one another? Or is it more McKinsey=Bain=Bcg > D=EY=pwc=kpmg? Purely talking in terms of prestige. Not sure if that’s even true for MBB but I’ve always wondered if “not all big 4 firms are created equal”
Ex-Deloitter here. My goal is to finish working across ALL of the Big 4, and then post-MBA at ALL of the MBB. Will I be considered a flight risk or will I garner the Thanos level respect I deserve?
Anyone transition from Big 4 to MBB’s in the past? Any thoughts around the merits of making that kind of a move?
What are big firms like MBB / Big 4 doing to keep employees (especially junior level) engaged and motivated during COVID? In your opinion, is it working?
How many hours a week do you typically work at MBB? I’ve heard that MBB’s hours are worse than Big 4/ACN consulting, but here I feel like I’m working 80-90 hr workweeks already.
How common is exiting from big4 to MBB? Joined big 4 post mba and still craving mbb! Does it get harder with time as they mostly hire out of school?
Big 4 salary is such a meme out of college, lateraling to MBB and my total comp is 2.2x as much -_-
Hypothetically, would you move from a Big 4 to MBB if given an offer one rank below where you currently are? Assuming salary is similar.
Big 4 Partners: in what ways do you think your role is easier and/or harder than what you have seen of MBB Partners? Does your lower average price point make it easier to sell work? Do you have to sell (and manage) lots of projects every year? Etc. I realize this is a tough question if you haven’t worked in both.
Is it actually worth applying to jobs cold with no internal references or contacts? I haven’t had any luck with this thus far, but wondering if others have. Am I wasting my time with these applications? How do you go about applying to jobs? Background: I’m not MBB or Big 4. (but did go to a top 10 university)
I’m in my 2nd year in audit. I want to pivot into management consulting within a big 4 or MBB. Has anyone seen someone make this lateral movement? I’m not sure how feasible that is and what steps to take. I’m also down to discuss further with whoever is comfortable in connecting.
How much different or “better” are the tech/digital practices at MBB vs Big 4? Like how is the nature of work+opportunities different? do we need an MBA to transfer to MBB? Long term goal is tech PM.
Best and worst firm of MBB, Tier 2, Big 4? Not in terms of “prestige”/rankings but culture/wlb/compensation etc
Is big 4 or MBB all it’s cracked up to be? Or is it better to be at a smaller firm? What’s more important to you in life: the name/prestige or do you value other things and what are those values? Just curious to hear people’s opinions
Those who got into H/S from the big 4 (consulting practices), can you share a tip? Everyone I know that got in worked at MBB, a little discouraged...
Can someone please explain the kind of work MBB firms perform in the federal space? I just can’t see it being widely different than the other big 4 firms in federal. Ex: most work is systems driven (implementation) is that still true for MBB? Thank you!!
Looking to network with Canadian MBB 🐠. I have 3.5 years of strategy consulting experience in a big 4 firm in the US and a US MBA (Ivy league if that counts for anything). Please let me know if you are open to connecting..
I'm a young (under 30) SM at Big 4 & like everyone here would like to make the move to MBB. I recognize a title change is likely but I don't care about titles. My question is how to make the change?
Is the Big 4 to MBB jump common? I know everyone wants to work at MBB, but curious to see how often that desire actually materializes
I have a personal Amex platinum card, can I use that to book eligible business flightsand then expense it? How does that work with big 4, and mbb usually? New coming employee to this company. Thanks!
What’s the best travel policy by firm? We have nothing but hoping to be upgraded... Flying coast to coast on economy every week is exhausting... I assume MBB allows first class flights. Big 4?
How much does your undergrad matter a few years out of school? Didn’t go to bad school but also didn’t go to a target. How would that affect my prospects at Big 4 or MBB?
Anyone want to give a ranking of top pharma / biotech firms (prestige and pay)? Looking for companies beyond big 4 and MBB
Is the staffing process easier/less stressful at MBB vs Big 4 vs Accenture/Capgemini etc.? Or maybe this is just how our profession is...
What does cyber work in MBB look like compared to Big 4? I’ve been noticing, particularly from McK that they have some cyber consulting positions here and there. I’m looking to stay in this field long term so I want to be aware of the career options. Also, I hear that moving to MBB from Big 4 isn’t always doable. Would cyber be easier for that since it’s more technical?
Do people here know of any cases of H1B transfer denial? Moving between Big 4 and MBB, and giving notice tomorrow, but haven't heard back on H1B transfer decision yet (10 days PP).
Resigning at a Big 4 to go to a MBB. Same practice. Any tips on resigning? This was my first job out of undergrad so not sure what to expect! Thanks in advance for your advice/ pointers 🐠!
This probably has been posted here before so I apologize to all of the trolls in advance... but how hard is it to move from Big 4 to MBB? What's the best way to do it?
Is it really that hard to get into MBB? Just noticing a lot of posts from big 4 employees having difficulty getting in. Just asking, not really interested to move.
Was looking on vault.com rankings and for work life balance MBB was 10, 13, and 15 with big 4 to be found nowhere in the top 25. I always thought mbb worked worse hours than us big 4 guys?
Curious to know what associate/consultant level compensation is in MBB or Big 4 in 2 locations: Tokyo vs Singapore
I have gathered that aside from MBB, ACN pays their employees the most and pretty significantly more than big 4. Jumping 🚢 A$AP.
how formally dressed are typical London professionals like those at MBB/Big 4? always tie on? vest? transferring to the office there but have really no clue about it.
🔮I really want my fellow consultants to be educated and successful, but this board is too much of an echo chamber. I mostly share my knowledge here. New members and active voices join every day🔮 https://t.me/joinchat/GZ2SDE7kXjidzGwGyLLf4w
Liz Taylor gave the new female cco less power than the male one who quit. Demoted the position from equal to the chief strategy officer to reporting to her.
Hi! A creative here. You think it’s ok to ask for a raise during this pandemic? Work is still pretty busy during this WFH situation.
Twitter thread regarding Microsoft employee salaries, it’s the same thing everywhere folks. Particular the tweet that says employees leave for Amazon/startup to boomerang at a higher salary https://mobile.twitter.com/i/events/1172594652018614282
I do like the work..but I know I’ll be paid atleast 35K more if I leave..and not sure if the next promotion will happen sooner than 3 years..leave or stay? Don’t have much partner or leadership support but not in a bad book as well
ACN 🐟 how much do you pay for health insurance? PPO, Dental, vision, all that... trying to calc my take home pay with offer I just got. Assume I’m taking the cheapest options and it’s just for myself.
Looking to consolidate by rolling over my 401k accounts from my prev employers to my current 401k plan. Is there a limit how many 401k accounts I can roll over? What’s IRS one-rollover-per-year rule?
When looking for a new position, do you prioritize comp or the experience/skills you'll be able to gain?
I grew up poor. I work in biglaw now. I just about paid off my student loans over the last few years. I saved a small emergency fund, and I’ll now have a good amount of extra money every month. I’m also maxing out my 401k contributions. I’d like to use the extra $ to set myself up for the future, but I don’t know what on my own and I don’t have anyone in my family to talk to about it with. How do you pick a financial advisor? Is it tacky to ask a partner or someone at work for a recommendation?
Went in for semen analysis today and the waiting room was all ladies. Boy was I glad I could hide my embarrassment behind the COVID mask and a baseball cap.

Flying to Japan on Friday via United Econ (XN). Unfortunately, only Silver status on the airline. Any recommendations for how to get upgraded, even to premium economy? Anyone have extra upgrade cert?
Anyone have spent time at marriott/spg properties in Maldives? Any advice regarding a particular property, travel there (from Midwest) or anything else in general?
Travel emergency! Can someone else pick up or check a bag on your behalf? What info do they need in order to do this?
Have a badass leadership opportunity but it's in health innovation working with internal ad agencies. Have avoided health most of my career. Would it affect my career negatively, later down the line?
How did those with kids agree on baby names. The name my wife wants for our child is my best friends ex girlfriends name (bad breakup about 2 years ago). I can't see the name without thinking of this horrible person bc it's not that common of a name. Am I unreasonable for veto'ing this name?
