I'm still working remotely, but I wonder how much longer that can last. It really feels like the trend is just pointing toward everyone being back in the office as in the old days. So far as layoffs go, we've all heard about Meta and Microsoft and we're only two weeks into the year. I'd been hoping 2025 would be looking up, but it seems there's just a lot of uncertainty.
We're in the office for three days a week now. And layoffs are always going to be a background stress... seems like it's the new trend.
Layoffs are a constant concern. Not worried at all about RTO mandates.
Most tech companies across multiple industries are forcing workers to return to the office. There are several reasons for this:
Managers need to justify their jobs and maintain control over productivity (which was UP during Covid btw).
Business owners made big investments in real estate and feel burned by empty offices.
They want you to quit. If you quit it’ll save them from dealing with layoffs.
I’m working for a company that is completely remote. Everyone is highly productive. There’s no need for an office for most jobs. I won’t go back to an office for the rest of my career of possible.
My company returned to office and everyone was mad about it but I honestly didn't mind. I don't mind being in the office because I actually tend to get more done in the office than at home. There are just far too many distractions at home.
