Natural hair (especially 4c) is a lot of time, energy, and money. Don't feel bad. I cut all my hair off in 2016 and I haven't looked back since.
Don’t feel bad! I’ve been wearing a low/mid fade for years! I get so many compliments. Work your hair! 🥰
Quality over length! I did the big chop in 2012, rocked different haircuts and styles until about 2015, then grew a big/long curly Afro. After all that work growing my hair, In 2022, I chopped it all off again. Managing a career AND hair is a lot. I had so much hair but it wasn’t healthy because I wasn’t taking care of it and didn’t have time to do much more than a bun (which the same bun over and over again will just break your hair off). I was shedding more than a German Shepard!
All this to say, I miss my hair a lot. But I too feel more free with my shorter hair. Granted, I still have to do something to it every morning, but it’s a lot easier for me to keep this amount of hair healthy, and I have so much of my time back. Plus, I get to go to try all of these creative cuts and styles!
I saw a fb post that a girl did the big chop years ago (2016 I think) and was having a hard time dealing with the length that she had and went back to the creamy crack.
And I thought about how easy and manageable relaxers and blow outs were when we all used the creamy crack lol..I know it could be so damaging but boy did we look good. 🤣
Lol. I also considered going back on the CC but then I was like nahhh just chop it off and move on. It looks cute and I don’t care if my hair is long or short as long as it’s not ruining my life haha
Freedom and peace is what’s best. Do what works for you. I’m 4c and only do what’s efficient for me
BC’d in 2004. Have had all types of hair crises. I found that having wigs (if not opposed) and a stylist that cares for natural hair helps tremendously.
I’m not a wig person but agree on the stylist for sure.
I've been tempted!! Feeling at peace with appearance is absolutely what matters most.
I really do miss my hairstylist in Chicago because I never had to touch my hair.
I just went and got it done every six days.
He did all the work; I just haven't found the same level of care since relocating to Austin Texas.
