For those who are actively dating, how’s it going?

I just came from a 5-year relationship. I just recently went back into dating. Dating in your 30s is actually a bit hard especially when you're looking for something serious.

like

I just met someone actually!

like

Everything is doing so good. Dating at the age of 35 is already kind of late, but who cares about age right? It's just a bunch of numbers anyway.

like

not well lol, I'm thinking of taking a break from the apps...it gets exhausting!

like

So far so good! I'm in my thirties and I just got back into the dating scene. I met someone incredible but I'm still having jitters because of how my last relationship ended. Wish me luck!

like

How do y’all do it? I need help🙃

Oh, haha that is pure timing and circumstance

I'm in my thirties, so I expect nothing out of it at this point but to have fun and find some cool new restaurants and bars. Luckily, people in this age group seem pretty worn out by the games and drama. So, a lot easier imo than it was in my twenties.

Terrible. I have lost hope in dating apps. I am just gonna pray that someone decent comes my way. lol.

I love my partner and we have been at it for 2 years now. Hoping for more years with each other!

Not bad. Just turned 36 (yay!) and can agree with the poster who said in your thirties you’re just worn out and not expecting much. Dating someone who is 28; it’s been fun! Again, low expectations, not looking for my Prince Charming whose gonna impregnate me (don’t want kids so a lot less pressure than some friends). He doesn’t really get my law firm schedule though. Those Gen Zers. 😂

28 year olds are millennials

The only reason I ever pursued casual sex (a couple times when I was 17-19) was to not get my heart broken. It always sucked and was so boring. I don’t understand when people say they want sex with no emotions. It’s the best part.

How to deal with people flirting with you at work.
I’m married, and one of my coworkers flirts with me. Nothing super overt, but definitely not professional. We’re good friends and work together constantly because we’re on the same client, so I don’t want to make it awkward. Do I just do nothing and let it go? It is mostly just odd I’m not super offended, but I’m also clearly uninterested!

I lived in tampa in my early 20s and am now in my late 30s and looking to move back. One of the reason I left is because I felt I had too much energy for the city for a single young professional, but now husband is from there and we have a kid but we are both social people. Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?

What's dating like in SF? New to the area.

Hello! I’ve previously only dated white guys. While in quarantine I’ve gone on dil mil and made an effort with brown guys on apps. Surprised to find that many live at home or visit home often in mid 20s, are not financially independent, cannot cook for themselves etc. Is this typical? Or maybe it’s just the area I live in. Sorry if this came off as offensive, it just seems to be a pattern I noticed

Can someone just explain how you plan out how much to bill so you can make sure it’s not a mad scramble at the end of year? I’m moving from a firm where I was lacking in any kind of mentorship. No one ever just sat down and explained the most efficient way to track/measure your hours to confirm that you are on track.

Is there just a secret excel spreadsheet that all lawyers have and I just missed the memo???

I am currently a medical biller and coder that just graduated. I am currently in an entry level position because I am still studying to get certified. I will have a year's work of exp in July and will sign a contract for another year because my boss is training me in more I don't know.

I'm wondering what the pay is for someone in my position without certification. I live with family and want to afford to move out but I am single and only make $18/hr. Is that standard or am I being underpaid?

I really feel like I should be excused from this "diversity and inclusiveness" training stuff lmao. It's about implicit bias and I'm sorry it's just not believable coming from an old white man's mouth when there are maybe 4 non-white associates. We're having these meetings 3 times this week. 🤦🏽‍♀️

What was your experience with the LSAT? Do you think it's gatekeeping, preventing students who can't afford it (often people of color) from entering the field? OR is it helping future attorney's of color by giving them a chance to go to a top school regardless of grades? I've seen questions about the LSAT all day and just want to know how people feel.

Does anyone in this group have ADHD? Are you finding that working in a law firm setting and billing hours is just not something they can do or is it possible with the proper medication and therapy?

I don’t cut my hours, I consistently reach 7 hours a day, but it’s not enough to meet my firm’s minimum requirement. I’m usually working 9 hours/day.

Anyone feel like your job sees you as "one of the good ones?" It hasn't explicitly been said, but I'm one of the only Black attorneys at the firm and I think my white colleagues and partners see me as an example of how Black folks "should be" cause I mind my business. Basically I feel like a token, and I don't know how to shift that idea while staying professional.

Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.
