Do you feel like a select few (definitely not the majority) of male partners try to one up you when reviewing your work? I notice that when I am a little more nuanced with my RFA or ROG responses certain male partners try to rewrite them even further with more flourish. Yet when male associates turn in similar assignments under these partners, even the most standardized boiler plate responses suffice. Am I imagining this?

YES!!! Or like pick out one typo and act like the whole thing was riddled with errors. Lol.

Definitely. The subjective nature of reviews and feedback like this is part of what makes the bias in our industry so hard to eliminate.

Yes. This.

You’re likely not imagining this given that study after study shows that women are treated differently.

I broke through the wall in 2020 and feel like I blinked and it is 2022. I have been saving something close to 75% of my take home and dumping into ETFs. I feel like I want to branch out into real-estate but never lived anywhere more that 3 years. What would you do? I have cash to put a large down payment to avoid the high rates but am scared I have no roots and will move in another few years.

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

Does anyone have advice on transitioning from insurance to another industry? I am Vice President of a small commercial brokerage- basically I do everything except write the checks. I want to move to a more structured corporate role in marketing or strategy somewhere like American Express or JP Morgan. Any thoughts? Anyone successfully pivoted? I can’t even get an interview outside of the insurance industry. I have 2.5 years experience in insurance, before that I was in restaurant management.
