I don’t think it has to be all from within. Promoting from the inside is great, but bringing in fresh ideas from the outside can shake things up in a good way. A mix of both can make for a stronger leadership team with plenty of company know-how and new perspectives.
No, because not everyone currently in “the ranks” is qualified or cut out for leadership. People should be promoted or hired into leadership roles based on leadership criteria.

Yes 100%, when you promote from within, there is already an understanding of how the business runs and relationships already built. I say promote from within anytime a leadership position comes up.

Promoting from within is great as it utilises already dedicated staff but externally hiring is great too because often new ideas and perspectives can really benefit the business.
