Hi everyone!!! Last year I put together a list of classrooms to exchange valentines with! We mailed 1 valentine to each class and included a picture if we could, and a few things about where we live and things we do!
I currently have 13 classes signed up! The more the merrier!!
We have classes CA, WI, PA, KS, TX, RI, MI, Canada, New Zealand.
I have a form to fill out if you are interested! I will email everyone the list probably at the end of the week if not sooner!

I find it beneficial to stop, and review the class expectations all together, no names, just, “Ok class, right now let’s quickly review our expectations that let us all do our beat learning...”
My first year teaching I had a similar problem and I had a veteran tell me that when it persists, one of the best things she’s found to do, is ask them privately to stay in at recess, and actually practice sitting quietly and raising their hands, etc. The trick here though is, you don’t focus on the time they are giving up. You don’t say, “you’re spending your recess here because...” instead you kindly make it well known that you wanted to help them and others learn their best, so you’ve volunteered your time from recess to help them practice. Remember this isn’t a taunt or a pressure, just kindly share the reasoning. Encourage them as they practice with, “thank you for being so respectful, way to go!” And the like. You may also wish to use when...then statements, “yes! When you sit quietly, then everyone can do their best learning, and that’s respectful of you!” Or, “when you raise your hand, then I can take your comment at an appropriate time so everyone can hear the lesson!” After your practice, make it clear again (kindly) that you were willing to give up your time for their practice and if they think they need more practice, they’ll you would certainly be willing to keep practicing at recess. Don’t spend the whole recess either, they can get out and get their chatting out of the way at recess! Hope that helps!
