Do you think succeeding as a black woman depends on where you live? Do you think we're more likely to succeed on the east or west coast? I've been living in Cali for 3 years, and they've been so much more successful for me than when I lived in Houston for 5. Just wondering if anyone else has felt more successful after moving, or had more work wins?

Yes but for me it was moving the opposite direction. I left Atlanta after college and moved to Seattle, where I had a terrible time lol. No work success, no friends, no dating for almost 3 years. I moved back in 2020 and I've had so much success since! I don't know whether it's good luck or just being back where I'm used to, but I've had such a better work experience here.

Unfortunately, the PNW isn't great for black people. Apparently this is well known out West, but I'd never heard this before a good friend moved there from where we were on the East Coast. Sorry you experienced that.

I'm a senior DS at a mid size company. I have 3Y-3M experience as a Data Scientist and 2019 B.Tech Passout from a tier-3 college.

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options?
