Folks - I joined consulting 14 years ago post masters and have gone through two firms and two countries and currently stuck at PD - and with consulting seems tougher to make P. I am 45 for context this year … my TC is about 400 … and hasn’t grown 1 dollar in 4 years. Any advice from real stewards of people would be helpful. Should I tough it out at current firm or jump. Thank you in advance!

Assume you work for Accenture. That is a tough place to be even in good times and compensation compression has been part of the strategy there for decades.

Company specifics aside, sales acumen (building books of business and generating new profitable revenue streams consistently) and professional brand (sponsors, what clients and leaders think of you) are the two most common pitfalls holding someone back. Take a deep introspective analysis of those two points and address the weaknesses/vulnerabilities. Consider jumping but this market is awful. Good luck.

I have been in a similar boat before. I would suggest you look at other if you haven’t received a meaningful raise in 4 years. My gut reaction is that you could go all out, devote an absurd amount of energy and effort to your firm in a push to get promoted, and they still wouldn’t do anything for you. It’s worth looking outside and see if somewhere else may appreciate you/be a better fit. That said do intense due diligence as part of your process.

Context matters and I don’t know you, so grain of salt. That said - if you’re asking the question on FB, that suggests you have real doubts. Why don’t you start looking for external seriously? Maybe you’ll find something awesome and land it. Maybe you’ll get a second wind and power through to the next level.

No reason to be a jerk A1. It’s the Partners bowl - 400k isn’t some massive flex. PD - very hard to advise w/o a lot more detail. You need to find people in your firm (or maybe prior firm) who will give you frank input on what is holding you back and how you might overcome it. You are obviously frustrated, but first step is understanding where your achievement is bumping into a wall. Then figure out if you are at a platform where you can overcome it (or if you are ok being at your current positions - some people stop progressing and are happy).

I’m so sorry you make $400k. Stay strong

P1 and A1, be constructive or don’t post. OP is struggling and looking for some guidance. Limiting revealing details on here is part of the bargain, and there’s plenty here to share the three things you might think about or share your view of conversion.

Are you L5 at Accenture?
