I love all these complicated answers… that won’t outperform the market over the long term. Drop it in an index fund and leave it alone.
If you aren’t long term investing then that changes a lot.

Private debt funds? I’m getting about 10% on these. They are funds so you aren’t at risk of losing everything with a single default.
I have $200 April 4 puts. The sales announcement is April 2. I will buy some more on Monday and target about $20 out of the money.
Right now? Dollar Cost Average over a few weeks into VTI/VOO and chill. Hell, be like Buffet and keep cash - spread it across 4 banks in HYSA with sign up bonuses. Let the chaos subside.

In a similar boat ( not quite as high $). Right now, I am investing mostly in bonds while I evaluate different things. A mixture of T-bills, municipal bonds, and corporate bonds. The munis and corporates are via ETFs so I can get out quickly. The T-bills are laddered but mostly short term (longest is 13 weeks).

I buy and manage my own multi family apartments.
I do, in fact, have $1m sitting in Vanguard VMFXX but just waiting until I find the right deal, after which that will be the down payment for a $2.5M - $3M purchase.
