Always set boundaries! Id love the extra money from doing the hours but I don't want to waste my life away because I know the company doesn't care or appreciate the efforts. Putting energy into my family is where it is at. That's the most rewarding I'll do my contract and no more.
Find a retail manager position that pays hourly…..main reason I love my job:)
If anyone is successfully setting boundaries, I'd love to hear how. I work a ton, hate it and have no idea how to stop. Here's how I picture that conversation playing out: "I don't want to work 6 days in a row." "Okay, we've got someone who will. Good luck."
As a retail store manager for tmobile I feel this and it only rolls down his because you get stressed then you pass the stress down to your team because performance isn’t where your boss expects it so in turn you get cal ins having to cover reps shifts because your a salaried manager which makes you miss time with your family
There will be busy times when I need to be around more, but that shouldn’t be all the time. It has to make sense with how much you are getting paid. For salary managers, you are easily dipping into single digits hourly when working 24/7.
I think modeling good boundaries is a really important part of leadership. I don't want my employees running themselves into the ground so I shouldn't be doing that either. I get my work done in the time that I have and whatever doesn't get done will get done tomorrow.

This is literally the stance I’ve had to take. I always try to bear all the responsibility, but I can no longer do that. I’m running myself into the ground. The problem is I don’t want to run anyone else into the ground
