If you are willing to start off as an associate and move up the ranks from there, you have a good chance after a top 10 MBA. Otherwise, every year there is a fresh cohort of graduates. Why hire you when they can go with someone younger and eager to learn?
It’s a fair comment, but I really feel like the amount of MBA requests I get make me feel as if it’s a better opportunity for the university to make money than for me, you can upskill without getting into more debt
I moved to front to back office by taking the IMC and learning how to code before applying, also researched the role heavily before the interviews and focused on making a connection in the interview, so they left feeling like they wanted to work with me. It is definitely possible!
For AM front office , CFA will be your key if you haven’t gotten in by that time frame. Get level 1 and 2 , and employers will see you as someone that is very likely to be a charter holder , with that done you should be able to have a lot more access to roles. Get started asap
Get qualified. IMC, CFA, read investment books, show something extra. I would love to hire from within, but few back office staff actually spend the time to work on this stuff. The exams show commitment and ability.
