My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

For those with corporate banking expertise, how do you typically go about calculating debt capacity for a company?

Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400. I have not gotten a merit raise since the last 2 January’s, the state raises the threshold for salary folks. My company says that was my raise. Is this right? I bring a background from the clinical operations of my company, scheduling, field work, and what the average employee faces. I want to look else where but I’m not sure.

Hello everyone! How do you manage holiday pay when the holiday is on a Saturday/ Sunday. For example, if I have someone working on Christmas (Sunday), they should be paid 1.5 but what if they work on Monday as well?I know this might sound silly to some people but I’m covering for payroll for the holidays and I don’t want to mess up!

Hello everyone! My co-worker and I are preparing for the SHRM certification exam and Hoping to take it in December. I’m looking to purchase the SHRM learning system books from someone that has already taken the exam this year. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

At my company we are going fully remote and we are trying to determine what “remote working best practices” we can enable for our employees.
