I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

I am struggling to spend the time to study for the PHR. I have everything I need, but I feel exhausted from the work week every weekend. I’m looking to take it in August.. help? What do I do?

What is the best way to study for a PHR?

I want to get my masters in HR, but I also want to get my phr.. is it better to get one over the other? Or should I do both. Are there any masters hr program someone can recommend?

PHR or SHRM-CP?

Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

Anyone know how to get a position as an HRBP without HRPB experience? All positions I've looked at want previous experience. Would over 5 years of HR experience and a PHR suffice, or what skills should be added to that?

Been on a project for 2 weeks and thinking it’s not for me. The manager is kind of rude when I ask for help/direction, but he always says to ask if things are uncertain. He always has this condescending attitude and just keeps telling me that he expects more of someone at my level, C. I just keep feeling anxious that I’m not meeting expectations and feel reluctant to ask for help. Anyone in the same boat?

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. I had 10 slots to choose from. I took the first slot available. Three were one day earlier this week and the rest are next week. Does it look good (or desperate, lol) on my part that I took the first time or should I have waited until next week so that I would be fresher on their minds when choosing a candidate? I make a base of $120k. Take home is $7k monthly (after taxes & $800 in 401k). Expenses are around $3500 currently with rent being $1200. I try to save $3000 a month. I’m okay with bringing savings down a little. Can I swing it?

Hi, i got interviewed and received a email on 25 last month for documents submission after which i was supposed to have an hr round like in a day or 2 as told by them in Deloitte. I am still waiting for this round. Everytime i try to connect with them they say its in process and will call soon. Should I continue to wait or should i move on..

Does a high graduate GPA (3.96 in MSc Finance) make up for a low undergrad GPA (3.43 in Finance)? I also passed the level 1 CFA but unsure whether the low undergraduate GPA is going to close a few doors at the top programs (at HBS, SBB and Wharton)

New/pivoting into HR! 👋 Currently working as a TA Coord with a little entry level work in HR Ops prior to this. Is there a SHRM link, reliable test, or method of shadowing the various parts of HR that will provide a sample of the work, thinking, and day to day experience of each group? I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?

Good morning! I'm a former teacher in the K-12 system and a current employment counsellor at a non-profit where my job responsibilities include administering and writing my own program and teaching a small class of adults on employment skills. I enjoy the work, but I'd like to transition into an L&D facilitator role in a year or so. How would you recommend I hone my skills in order to look more appealing to potential employers?

Advice on taking the SHRM-SCP exam? I’m taking the exam tomorrow and not feeling as prepared as I should. Who has taken the SCP exam? How difficult did you find it?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. How would you recommend moving from recruiting into a learning and development role?

Our company in CA has been working remotely for the last two years since Covid. We are downsizing our office space and officially transitioning to a remote first workplace. With this, we are looking for paperless options for our employee filing system. We have a current hris we use for new employees or documentation but it’s not customizable. We need to transfer all the old paperwork in the file cabinet to a repository or some sort. Any suggestions??

I’m having the hardest time finding a new job. I have 12 years of HR experience, a masters in HR, SHRM certification, and all I keep getting are rejection emails. I’ve never experienced this difficult of a time searching for new opportunities. Is this normal once you hit a certain level in your career or is it just me?

I’ve heard a lot of discussion around the whole “pizza motivates employees more than money” debate and I just want to say no it does not. I don’t know how corporate America thought this was a winning argument but no, pay me and I’ll buy my own pizza.
