As wonderful as it is to have upbeat, friendly colleagues, it's just not always the situation. Here is one big tip: Don't create their feelings or emotions for them by thinking they're unwelcoming, unfriendly, etc... it's better to remove expectations and not push the awkward atmosphere. Learning to disconnect from others' behaviors is a widely underutilized skill.
I am the type of coworker who wants to have professional relationships with my coworkers, and nothing more. I'm friendly, but I don't want to be friend, ya know? I assume my coworkers would probably speak about me as being awkward. I would respect that they may not want the kind of friendship you are looking for.
If you can get along well with the majority of your peers, don't hyper focus on one outlier. If they are so unpleasant that they create issues, those people typically tend to be managed out of the organization. Focus more of your energy on the relationships that will better serve you.
Unfortunately, you can't get on with everyone. You were really lucky at you previously jobs. Hope there's other people at your work that you get on with that balances it out.
Yes, I’ve worked with someone who just didn’t click... You don’t have to be friends with everyone... it’s okay to keep boundaries and protect your own peace.
