Yes the role of a PM can be broadly defined given the industry, down to the level of stakeholders and how the job descriptions are written. As we know one size does not fit all. It is best to manage expectations up front.
Don’t use project charters since we’re going agile. While we’re in this transition we’re supposed to be scrum masters but are still expected to schedule everyone’s meetings and track everything without getting any credit for moving the work forward. Product owners manage the stakeholders and run the project.
Most of the times it’s due to varying degrees of stakeholders expectations.
I think that’s the issue. The stakeholders expect the PM’s to be admins but theres no one to vouch for us while our roles are still being figured out within the organization as we go agile because even the higher ups are still trying to figure it out.
💯 yes. In my full time gig they also want me to develop new processes and roll them out across an entire marketing team. In my contract roles it was just “kept this project moving” and remove roadblocks. That was for full time and contract workers. I think it depends on if your company is scrappy or full corporate mode
