My advice is to take freelance/ contract gigs if you need to
I am actively applying and have attended a few interviews for contract jobs. The hiring managers become very skeptical that I am going to continue in those jobs. So that is also not working. They ask me questions like "What is motivating YOU to apply for these jobs". Some tell me that "I am on the higher side" without even checking with me if I would be ok with their range! The moment they see me on the camera, everything is over!
I am facing a similar situation, looks like it is very difficult to break in without a support from someone at the top. one of the challeges that I am seeing in this market is that people are not getting back with a Yes / No instead just disappearing/ghosting and this is taking a toll on my confidence level.
How active is your network? Are you going to industry events (virtual or in person)?
There’s no time like the present to build one . You should try attending larger conferences with big known sponsors. C suite execs definitely attend those
