Should I be reaching out to recruiters and hiring managers after applying to jobs? I've mostly been applying through LinkedIn, so finding the right person isn't hard. I'm just afraid of coming across as obnoxious!

I've had some success with sending quick messages. If it's short and just one, I don't think it's obnoxious. It's their job to find a good candidate.

Recruiter here, I’d send a quick friendly message introducing yourself and the job order you applied to.
That way we can look into the specific job you applied for, cross reference your resume to see if you’re a match, and then follow up with you/the recruiters in charge for next steps.
If you’re a not a match then what I usually do is look up some roles we are hiring for that’re a match and share them with you to see if you’d be interested in applying to those.

I have premium and a lot don’t have them, it’s surprising!

OP - out of curiosity, what do you say to them? Just introduce yourself and flag that you applied and would love to chat?

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. Is it better to stay put?

I have an interview coming up with Church & Dwight. When the recruiter emailed me with 3 interview times I thought he was asking me what time works best. Turns out he was telling me I was scheduled for 3 different interviews for 3 different teams in one day. Has anyone heard of a company doing that or gone through this for an interview? It seems odd to me

Just realized I hadn’t had an in-person interview since 2019. I’ve done multiple zoom interviews and was onboarded remote in 2020. About to see a real person today! Wish me luck.

Additional Posts in Laid Off in Tech Support Group

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

I would like to stay in tech and I’m giving it a few weeks before I start pivoting to more traditional supply chain roles. Thanks.
