Tax question from an auditor...I started a new job and initiated a rollover of my 401k from old company to new company. The old TPA issued a check to my new TPA for benefit of me, however they (cont)
Got an offer for a state job as an auditor but pay is not all that great. Work life balance and benefits are good though. First year here - not even a year yet. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?
I grew up poor. I work in biglaw now. I just about paid off my student loans over the last few years. I saved a small emergency fund, and I’ll now have a good amount of extra money every month. I’m also maxing out my 401k contributions. I’d like to use the extra $ to set myself up for the future, but I don’t know what on my own and I don’t have anyone in my family to talk to about it with. How do you pick a financial advisor? Is it tacky to ask a partner or someone at work for a recommendation?
If you use your agency’s education reimbursement, and it’s a lot, are you kinda obligated (not contractually but like socially) to stay for a while afterwards- like say the rest of the year- or nah?
at what income level should you contribute pre-tax to your 401k? 1 year out of undergrad and always assumed post-tax was best
Looks like I'll end the year with 73 SPG nights. Are the benefits worth me spending money/points for two nights to get to 75?
Benefits of staying 3 busy seasons as opposed to only 2? I’m tempted to leave for a ~10k pay bump and better hours now but part of me thinks I should get that senior busy season experience
Anyone else watching their 401k take a hit. Investment Advisor said to leave it, because it's for the long term. Thoughts?
How are you spending your fitness reimbursement for the end of the year? I already bought my gym membership...Don't know what else
Just like we all have airline and hotel loyalties, what is your ride share loyalty? Uber vs Lyft! I am not so concerned with quality, more so rewards program or benefits.
Any US citizens here ever go overseas as a high school foreign exchange student? Curious to hear details from those that have personal experience rather than those I find online. Cost, locations, benefits other than travel experience, etc.
It's 2018 and I just turned down a job offer for higher pay and title becuase the new company doesn't offer maternity benefits. Fuck America.
What is Deloittes policy for men and paternity leave? Do men get 6 months too? Any things to know in advance or restrictions?
Funnel 19.5k for rest of year to pay off car at 5.9% interest? Or funnel 19.5k for rest of year to start 401k from zero @ apprx 6% historic returns and get that groundwork for compounding? I can only choose 1 this year. Older career-starter and anxious about starting retirement savings but want to get rid of debt. Help!
What's the most profitable way to prospect physicians? I pulled up my providers from my health insurance in the area and there are 3,115 within a short distance. Should I go to the doctor more often?
Any recommendations for in-network dentists in the Gold Coast/Near North side? I’m covered under the MetLife Dental health plan. I just graduated and moved to the city a few months ago so TIA!☺️
Any recommendations for good self-help and general well-being podcasts for long drives? I am commuting an hour to client site every day and could use some positive uplifting in the morning
PwC 🐠, can someone enlighten about the banking transformation practice? Recruiter reached out for an experienced senior manager role. Currently at another Big 4, M3, HCOL.
Going to resign this week. Can I transfer my corporate Amex points to a different account? If not, what’s the best way to use them ASAP
Having joined consulting from Industry, I get butterflies when time comes to end a project and go on the bench....I hate sitting idle or 'working' on internal initiatives!! 😓
Looking for some advice on names, pregnant with a baby girl. My husband and I are not sharing names with family/friends until the baby is born to avoid any “I hate that name” or “ i knew a girl with that name, she was she the worst” type of feedback we will have to live with. But happy to get a pulse on favorite names from strangers 😬 Here are some of our tops names (really into E for some reason) any favs? Eloise (Eli), Edith (Edi), Ella, Avery, Elise (Eli), Amelia, Willa, Beatrix
shoutout all my homies out there waiting on that Win -- it's coming -- they can't stop us from getting there
Kudos to the team that did the Budweiser 2017 Super Bowl ad 🌟👌. https://youtu.be/7ZmlRtpzwos. What are your other favorites?
Need help! I am a working mom of 2 young kids. I have an offer for about $25k more than I make currently outside of public accounting. It’s 40 hours year round, amazing benefits, with a pension (cont)
So if I get pregnant now and then have to tell my coworkers this summer, will they think I was having too much fun while WFH?
Have to change my AA flight to a day earlier, only gold member with AA will I get whacked the $200 change fee?
Random, but best work travel fails you've seen? Summer associate, told him the client name, said we're meeting in Rochester NY. He calls, says taxi won't take him to client site- he landed in LGA.
I need words of encouragement. Going on 6 months of interviews and I’m getting rejection after rejection . It’s so hard to not completely give up 😭
Just got an offer with Accenture. How does start date and timing of annual performance review impact promotion? Is it more advantageous to start at a certain month of the year?
Pet owners - has anyone used this to reduce allergies? I’m also wondering if I should invest in some cat sunblock.
Is it a thing now for senior leaders to read off a script when presenting in front of an audience? I was always thought to write down main ideas but not word for word exactly what you’re going to say in each slide. Any time I see someone do this that’s supposed to be a senior leader I think less of them. Dude if you can’t give a speech without the script in front of your face then you don’t deserve your title/salary. I can read your script and look at your slides, where’s your value added?
Would you rather have a 40 hr a week chill job that pays $100K/year, or 100 hr a week stressful job that pays $400K/year? No in-between.
Any good bluetooth earbuds for <$100? Looking for something with a physical mute button that works with Skype, as I'm frequently presenting my screen which makes it hard/ awkward to hit mute
Work remote and want a dual monitor setup that works for both firm and client laptop with minimal cable switching. Would like to have both laptops connected to the dual monitors, and (cont'd)...
