I’ll be honest and say I gossip but I’m still professional during my interactions
I think it’s normal to want to fit in. It’s also normal to worry that if you don’t partake in the conversation that you’ll become what people are talking about. You just have to decide that you care more about being a decent person than want your clearly toxic colleagues think of you.
Not proud of it, but when I was younger, I was definitely a part of the problem. I had somebody tell me once that even being passively involved can be just as bad as being an active participant. Helped me reshape my thinking. Use discretion in each situation, but good reminder when those things happen because it is very easy to just go with the crowd.

I have 1 peer where we can be brutally honest about our situations together…. Trash talk people, dump on projects, complain about new policies, etc. I think that’s normal and we both know that we are not being our best selves and just need to release the negativity kept inside. Otherwise we both avoid the office drama and keep it professional!
