It depends on what youre referring to as sql. Do you mean t-sql queries? Or as ddl/database technology? It also depends on the audience.
I'm usually talking to non computer people and tend to focus on the former. I refer to sql as an intermediary language. I have questions to ask someone or changes to request but i don't speak computer and the computer doesnt speak english. But for some reason we both speak klingon, so anytime i want to interact i have to use klingon.
But for those in the know, I sometimes throw out: It's a CRUDdy way to get things done in the back end.
