I am looking for some suggestions on how to professionally and ethically re-enter the workforce after a three year hiatus due to relapse of substance abuse. I am one year sober and I always get an interview and typically get offered the position but I continue running into barriers with the criminal back ground check. It is prescription drug related and not violent or sexual offense. But it is a felony.

Just wanted to shout out you guys and this app for helping to guide people whether that's salaries, tips, referrals, etc. Helped give me direction on my next step. Looking forward to starting in Saas after the new year. You guys rock

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Might be shifting to a outpatient oncology position from a medical social worker in a hospital setting, any pros/cons major differences?

What misconceptions do you think people have about social work? or therapy?
Mine is my family still believes that only "sick" or unhappy people need to see a therapist, so they don't understand why I go to one since I have a job and a family. It's oldschool thinking and pretty annoying tbh.

Best way to deal with family members who treat you like the family therapist? Over thanksgiving my aunt disclosed some intense stuff to me and asked me for my help/opinion, and it was uncomfortable. I don't feel good saying just don't talk to me about stuff like that, but I also am not paid to give therapy to my own family and the things they tell me put me in weird situations with other family members. Help!

How do you deal with imposter syndrome? I'm a new therapist and I work with a bunch of women who have been doing this for ages. They're all really sweet, but I can't help feeling like I'm way out of my league. I mostly see younger clients which I guess works in my favor, but I just feel like I'm totally incompetent compared to the women I work with.

I graduated in May of 22. I transitioned from being an intern to being a full time counselor, now for 6 months. I feel like I might be catching my agency at a tough time, but as an employee it doesn’t seem to be trying anything to keep me here besides the occasional ‘motivational’ posts from the administrative team.
