LCSW 50k loan repayment- Has anyone been granted a contract through the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program? I’m interested in applying for the 2 years of full time work as an LCSW but my loans are a bit under 50k so I’m wondering if they would only give me what I need to clear my loans or would I still get 50k as long as I complete my contract ?

In my experience with that program, they will only give what you are currently showing you owe as your qualifying student loans. If you receive extra money or do not show that you are using it to pay off those qualifying loans during the specified time, then you will be asked to pay it back. If you leave your obligation early, you will be asked to pay approximately $30,000 back or continue working at another qualifying location.

Quite honestly, if you are working at a good location, it is a VERY easy grant to obtain and utilize. Probably the best grant I have ever received.

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.

A year ago I moved to an HCOL area to accept a new position, however, I do not go into the office daily. I just go whenever my team needs to be in office. Was wondering has anyone moved out of an HCOL area to save money on rent and was it frowned upon when your firm found out? With inflation and rent going up I’m considering moving 3 hours away where rent is half the cost I’m paying now.

I graduated in May of 22. I transitioned from being an intern to being a full time counselor, now for 6 months.
