Hi everyone – I’m an incoming MBA student at Columbia Business School (class of '27), currently working as a Corporate Banking Associate at a bulge bracket covering TMT.

If your firm (or one you know of) could use help on any research projects or short-term investment work this summer, I'd love to connect. Happy to share my resume and recent stock pitch materials also if helpful. Thanks!

Wow, congrats on Columbia. That's sounds an amazing next step on your life. I’d definitely mention this to any TMT-focused VC or hedge funds you admire too, even if they’re not actively hiring. A friend of mine landed a short-term gig just by sending a thoughtful cold email with a recent pitch deck. Have you reach out to people on Linkedin that will be there too?

Hey- thanks for the message, appreciate it! Yes, I have been emailing alum and current students (and have also attached a stock pitch), but unfortunately hasn’t yielded too much in terms of short term projects/internships. Did your friend also end up in the IM space?

Who is currently hiring entry-level OCM consultants? My close friend studied communications and organizational change, but found their way into logistics. They are looking for opportunities and I think they would be a much better fit as a consultant. My company’s hiring cycle ended so I’m seeing if I can help point them in the right direction before next year. Appreciate any pointers on certs that might help too! (I’m in analytics and not as familiar) Thanks!!

Hello! I’m gearing up for my year end comp conversation and I’d like to be a better idea of what people are making to ask for a raise. I work for a large asset manager and sell alternative investments (PE, RE, Credit, Infra etc) to RIAs, family offices, and multi family offices. I’m currently an associate, but am hoping to get VP this cycle. Any insight on what your comp looks like and how it’s structured would be super helpful!

Due to obvious conditions my comp for the calendar year (salary+bonus) is back to 2017 levels although my overall sales are more than double and 1/3 less total comp than last year. I am asked during this RE analyst interview to build a real estate model from scratch. My background is commercial banking and I am used to analyzing real estate deals from the lender side not the developer. The interviewer is generous I must say he’s giving me a few days to complete. However this model is for a ground up multifamily development. I have no prior experience building one. I can find models online but all very complexe to reproduce. How would you handle? Do you have model to share?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
