Genuinely asking. Should I hang up on or continue an interview with a CD when they ask me to tell them about my work in my portfolio because they haven’t looked at it at all even after I gave them my portfolio link after they requested for it? They’ve had an entire week to at least skim through. It’s one thing to ask me to tell them about how I approached it etc but to outright admit you didn’t even look at my portfolio? Not trying to be entitled but Idk man

A tech firm reached out, and I had a 30-min call with a CD. Went well and I agreed to more interviews. Turns out the next round is a “4-hour panel WebEx interview”. Their creative dept isn’t well established, so is it wrong for me to politely say “4 hours is a big investment, can we briefly chat about salary range, title, etc”? I kinda don’t want to go down this road for a lateral title and who-knows-what salary. If it was a better-known in-house shop, I’d go with the flow.

Another day, another case study in LinkedIn drama. Is the creative director right here that political posts should be banned, or at least not algorithmically shared, on LinkedIn? Or, by calling on LinkedIn to take the post down, is he merely trying to “cancel” opinions he doesn’t like? What should the standard be?

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm interviewing for a CD position in-house and I have absolutely no idea what salary range to ask for. I have 6 years of experience, and am based in Australia. The company is known to pay quite well also, knowing to pay above market rate. The range out there is so broad between agency and in-house, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, not to mention worried that I could either undersell myself or ask too much and not get the job.

Once again, got turned down for a really great CD job after multiple (successful) interview rounds because they think I’m “OVERqualified”...despite them saying they loved me & my world & all my experience, and my assuring them that I still love doing the work and being hands-on CD vs. managing or needing to be an ECD (which is technically my level but I’m not a greedy title-chaser). I don’t even know what to do anymore. Stuck in limbo. F*ck this shit.

I’m the only creative on one of the smaller accounts at my agency, where I am referred to as the “Creative Director” for the account. But I’m a junior AD... In interviews etc. can I say I am a CD? 🧐

I’ve applied to over 40 jobs since I was laid off in March. Not one click to my portfolio, per analytics. With a family of four, we are being spread thin. Not only is the income desperately needed, but my creative soul needs a release. I would be happy to do typical Art Director work but I’m “over qualified” for that and am never taken seriously when applying for work below CD/ACD. If anyone needs or know of any company needing freelance work, large or small—I’d really appreciate the lead. 🙏

Anyone experience this during the interview process.. I’ve met with the ACD and CD, so far so good, got the impression that they thought I’d fit right into the role (which would be a title bump). Now I’ve been asked to have a follow up call with the ACD. Any thoughts on what they would want to discuss? Not sure what I should be prepped for.

I just realized I’ve never done an interview with a creative director. Anyone have advice / a general idea of how it usually goes? They’ve already seen my book. Would it be a deeper conversation about my work? My life? My process? I want my mommy.

I was in an interview and the cd kept asking if the campaigns on my site were my idea or the copy writers. I kept repeating it was both of ours. I don’t believe that I am ever the sole creator.

When applying for a Creative job, is it acceptable to contact the CD directly in addition to completing the standard submission form? Or is this annoying for CDs to deal with? Seeing 100+ applications for each role makes me think I need to explore other ways to get myself noticed. Thanks :)

Had an interview a couple hours ago and one of the questions was to talk about some other similar partner companies I've worked with and I completely blanked and only talked about one (although it was a significant one). Should I throw in names of some of the other companies when I send my thank you or just let it go? He didn't seem to keep pushing the question so I'm assuming my answer covered it. But probably would've been helpful to include more names for variety.

I’m currently 28 weeks and just had a phone interview for a new job; throughout the course of the conversation I didn’t bring up that I’m pregnant. The hiring manager said the next step would be to come in for an in-person interview, and now I’m worried that this will somehow hurt my chances (even though I know it’s technically illegal to discriminate against women for being pregnant). Has anyone else had experience with this? Should I tell them now that I am pregnant?
