Hope this is the right place for this. I'm applying for a position and the application has a weird text box that says "You can use the following space for a cover letter and any extra information." My resume pretty much covers all my experience since I've only had two jobs. Should I write a cover letter anyway, or is it okay to just put in my availability and contact info as the "extra information"?

If I were looking at your application, I’d appreciate even a short cover letter in that box. It doesn’t need to be long, just a few sentences about why you’re interested in the role and what you bring to the table. That extra effort makes you stand out.

I hate to say it, but you would probably be better off making a cover letter and including it there. Could even make a shorter one just as something to put down.

I’ve been taught that cover letters always give you an edge over other candidates who choose not to. It’s an easy way to advocate for yourself before even getting the interview.

I will always at least read the cover letter and scan the resume for those willing to put in the extra two minutes over those who leave it empty or put in a short statement that only says read the resume. Run your resume through AI and ask it to put together a short cover based on the role that can highlight your transferable skills or related experience.

How do find a recruiter in the legal field? Have been looking for a job for a year now and trying to transition into another practice area. Applied to more than 20 jobs and still no offers. I feel like I might need some help.
Also, I have no idea how these arrangements work. Do you pay the recruiter to look for the jobs or do you pay them when you get the job? Or does the employer pay them?
