Is it a good idea to accept LinkedIn invites from people you don't know or don't send any type of note along with their invite? I'm all for networking, but shouldn't a stranger send a note saying why they want to connect with you? (i.e. we work in the same industry and thought it might be good to connect?)

I’m a first-time prospective lateral likely to get an offer shortly. I just received a lateral questionnaire that requests billable hours, rates, fees collected, etc. for the last three years. I went thru covid last year and lost smell and taste - since recovering the smell of things has changed and usually it is for the worse - meats now smell like dog or cat food and citrus fruits like onions … this has been for months now and no sign of getting better - anyone else experiencing something similar ?

Anyone else having trouble focusing today? Every time I have a long break and come back to the office I’m reminded how much I don’t like my current job. ID Associate and I have such a hard time concentrating even after a week off. I find it mind-numbing and unfulfilling. I’m never excited to come to work anymore for the past few months now. Just found out from a legal recruiter that I’m also way underpaid here. Hopeful I’ll get a job in a diff area of law or find another calling altogether.

How do you engage your students in more reading outside of what is required in the classroom? With each passing year I am finding an ever shrinking population of students, including honors students, who actually read beyond what is posted in social media or video games. Students willingly volunteer that they do not read and most parents see it as a non-issue. I tell my students that the best readers are usually the best writers. What are some strategies that you use beyond reading logs ?

When I first joined Fishbowl, I was so productive in the Tech and Startups bowls. Learning, networking, contributing.

Then I discovered the Confessions Bowl and got sucked in. I haven't been in the Tech bowl in two weeks. 😕
