Just going to rant a bit… What’s really an account director’s role? ADs in my company create confusion in trying to insert themselves into the conversation, they don’t understand management consulting and confuse clients, they fake having relationships with key decision makers, often misread the company politics/camps and then try to justify their failures by trying to gaslight us into thinking we were either too expensive for the Client or didn’t do a great job on prior engagements or some BS!

Looking to make the jump from Account Exec to Senior Account Exec. Moving from Chicago to Milwaukee. Interviewing for an agency role. Long-term goal is in-house in 2-3 years. Currently making $55k. What’s a realistic increase? Should I ask between $62-68k? I’ve been told by an Account Director that some agencies are doing sign-on bonuses, too and should even ask higher. Your thoughts? BG info: 5 years experience in advertising and PR mix with background in digital marketing. Masters degree, too.

Need some info: I'm looking for a new position and came across an opportunity at a media+creative agency as an Account Director. What're the main changes I can expect if I was to pivot from a purely creative agency in account management to a media+creative agency within the same dept? I'm going in for interviews soon and want to learn what I can in the interim.

I'm in an interesting position. I got an offer for an Associate manger (level 8) role at a tier 2 firm. I asked if bumping it up to level 7 (Manager) role is an option, and was basically told that it is if I really want to, but I should be careful what I wish for. SM basically told me that he thinks I will be a lot better set up for success in the long run if I were to start at level 8. What are your thoughts? I would be coming from a large ad agency where I'm an Account Director.

I’m in production at a small creative content shop (mostly tv network promos and some consumer brands). Thinking about pivoting and going for Account Director jobs. I’m the POC for all clients. No account team so I do project scoping, budgeting, scheduling and BD as well as produce. I love the client interaction and helping turn their goals into reality. I hate biz dev but maybe because of how it’s run here. Can you talk me into or out of an AD role? Looking in Wash DC so smaller agency market.

I have been in the industry for ~ 20 years, career slowed down when I went part time to raise a family and care for aging parents and when I moved to Milwaukee, I took a demotion. I was part of Covid layoffs and have been applying for an Account Director role. When I looked on LinkedIn, the company has a lot of young people at VP level. How do I negotiate for that after the fact? What does VP mean at your company?

I’m considering a position as an account director at a large agency coming from a media director role at another. (I’ve been client facing for years) are there any hard and fast rules of client management that typically media people wouldn’t deal with DTD? Note: this is more of strategist role and they were looking for heavy media experience but this position is unique in that it will also serve as the liaison between the analytics, creative, and media agencies.

Does it make sense to boomerang back to big 4 just to brand my resume for exit ops in moving to industry in the future? I’m two years away from manager and my plan is to leave public once I make manager. Hello 🐠 - I’m a consultant (5 yoe in consulting) trying to exit into tech roles at midsized tech companies into consulting friendly functions (BizOps, some PMM). Are firms willing to negotiate the role with campus hires? I received an offer for a big 4 in risk, which I signed early in September, but just now received another offer in TAS from a different firm. While I much prefer the big 4 firm, I do not want to work in risk anymore. Would a big 4 be willing to change groups? Have you heard of anyone able to do this? I feel kind of bad, but I truly despise the idea of working in risk now. ( My friend who's in the role right now hates it)

How does one break into a big agency from a small one? I am confident I can hang creatively at a big shop, but I have a CD title with no direct reports. This always comes up in interviews and I think it’s killing my chances. I lead projects, but I don’t lead a consistent “team” of writers because we don’t have one (I’m a copy-focused CD). I almost wish I could go back to being an ACD and grow in a bigger agency from there. I feel stuck.

Last night's buy at 3096 goes 1.5 points over the objective that I called last night in Europe. There were two HWB long buying opportunities last night. New Target 3159.25 probably hit in today's NY session. We are trading Micro HWB's right now. Basically, we are goin to hit new highs and create a potential double top situation. Be careful being long at that new objective. If it's a dip into new highs situation, we could sell off violently, like we did yesterday. Bullish Above 3126.
