I don't think it's AS bad as it used to be. Would like to think the newer generations of actors aren't as slimy
Even though the blatant sexism and harassment have declined over the years, it is still difficult for women to break into the industry still. Only about 23 percent of all executives, producers, directors, and similar roles are women, and only about 37 percent of women get hired for big roles.
There's been significant progress in this regard but really it's still a man's world that we have to navigate and try to find success in.
Misogyny is certainly present, but it's not something you will have to deal with in every job you take. Like any other profession, every workplace is different and if you're lucky you'll get to work with people who will respect you as a human and value what you bring to the set
It exists, but it's not an insurmountable barrier. It's up to us to rise up to the challenge, become more involved in the film industry, and open the doors for other women
That being said, there are some really slimy people out there and you might have the displeasure of having to deal with them at least in passing
It is something that always happened, it still happens but those who do it are very careful thanks to the metoo movement now if we are heard and now the rapist is afraid to overlap with an actress, keep in mind that it is still a macho labor branch. But let nothing stop your dream of being an actress.
Those practices have been disappearing thanks to the fact that people have started to talk about the absurdities and do not allow them to continue, I congratulate those people, and I congratulate you, may nothing stop you on your way to becoming an actress.
It has at least become a little more tolerable after all the women who have spoken up, but there are times when the industry still finds it difficult to give us the bare minimum of treating us with respect and giving equal pay. Some workplace environments are definitely better than others. There are plenty of women-led agencies nowadays.
There are some cases of misogyny just like in any industry, however, I have worked on several sets and haven't had any instances so I would let it get in the way if you are truly passionate about acting.
