Does anyone feel that the Oil and Gas industry is the most discriminatory industry of all? They won’t even look at resume without O&G experience! It does not make sense to me as I would rather teach someone the specifics of an industry if they were a good fit. And for an industry that has so many obstacles from Government, Environmental Organizations and so on, why they are adding more bad publicity to themselves is not a great approach.

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

When are companies planning to call employees back to office. Anybody already started to work from office.

This is regarding EY India.

I got a call from EY HR a couple of days back stating that I have cleared all the rounds and enquired about the expectations.

Post which it has been two days...now I enquired about the update on the next steps. No response and even not answering the call.

Does this mean that even after going through a gruelling process of interviews they now see the salary bracket fitment and rejected my candidature?

I think this generation has finally understood that it's not worth preparing for govt jobs like UPSC, RBI, SEBI, SSC job, even state PCS.

Earlier they used to sacrifice important 3-4-5 yrs for such jobs but now people want to work more in Corporate rather than wasting their lives for such govt jobs which doesn't even have any significant future as compared to an IT job.

Is this true or people are still running after these govt jobs? I can see the mindset shift from Govt to Corporate jobs.
