Honestly I enjoy the summer more as an associate. While my summer associate experience was fine and we got to do lots of fancy things I’ve since forgotten, what I remember about it was being a nervous wreck the whole time about doing a bad job/saying the wrong thing/feeling like I was in an interview for 2.5 months straight/feeling pressured to socialize late every night and do an A+ job socializing (not my strong suit) etc. This was Great Recession times, so we did not feel confident about whether we’d get offers, although I think almost all of us did.
Once I was employed as an associate, all that stress went away and I enjoyed every summer getting to do fun stuff with the summer associates and my fellow associates (in between work fire drills of course).
All that to say, have FOMO if you want, but this will not be your last summer! And may even be better in the future with less “will I get an offer” stress.
My memories from actual summer:
(1) reply all chain to “summer associates” where we’re all freaking out about whether we should do a practice session before golf day because most of us didn’t know how to golf and were afraid of pissing off partners. Turns out, hiring partner is on the “summer associates” list serv and none of us geniuses thought to check.
(2) July 4 rooftop fireworks, we summers gather at a table. Hiring partner comes over and tells us without fail every year during this event the summers gather at this same table. No one knows why.
Oh man...retroactive FOMO? Ok...my 2L year what I remember is drinks on the partner's racing yacht in SF Bay.
Well if you wanna talk about memories we’ll cherish for years to come, they shipped us kits to make banana pudding over zoom together next week
The year I was supposed to have a summer associate role none of the typical firms were hiring or had cut programs by 80% and I applied 40 places and got nothing. So no fomo fo sho. Now all those firms are like "bUt wHeRe arE thE mIdLevEls" and it's kind of funny I guess.

Boo hoo, any idea how many law students never got a summer at a firm and never will? Just be grateful it sounds like you got a shot at this awful job at all. I’m sure there are people in your class that would kill to make pudding.
What I remember about my summer is how entitled everyone was about the amount they could spend at lunch, judging every outing we had by how much it cost and then realizing this entire big law industry is a giant pyramid scheme for out of touch people. Sounds like you’ll fit in fine.
