I wouldn’t tip them anything. Unless it’s a special occasion like Christmas. The tipping culture in this country is out of control.
Also following, but we don’t tip — just gifts for holidays and teacher appreciation week. I wish they would just do a teacher’s fund all parents could contribute to — we have 5 teachers plus the director for our one kid in daycare 🫠
I don’t tip? But give $100 gift cards for holidays, teacher appreciation day etc.
Do you plan to tip their school age teachers too??
I've had 3 kids in the same daycare since 2016. Also in a HCOL. I don't tip.
At Christmas I give a hundred or so dollars to each of the employees. And when I get a bonus at work I also give them a bonus (my bonuses, when I've had them, don't coincide with Christmas).
I give $100 to each provider (3 total) for Christmas at my son’s in-home daycare.
I'm in Brooklyn, following.
I don't tip daycare workers. I will probably give a Christmas gift.
By tip what kind of interval are you talking? Daily? Monthly? Or you mean generally gifting? My kids each have 3 teachers + multiple floaters. I usually give cash or gift cards twice a year. Teacher appreciation is usually $25-50 and small gift. End of year is $50-100 (per) and a small gift.
As someone who also lives in a HCOL, I think the financial responsibility of thanking teachers should fall with the Daycare owner / business that's literally charging parents $2800+ per child just to watch our kids for a few hours a day. I'm not going to pay that and then tip your staff on top of that for doing their job.
I don’t tip…. They get nice gifts though and of the year
Ahh I meant tipping for the holidays. We usually give a cash gift to the teachers around the holidays and again at the end of the school year.
