How often do you find yourself working outside of regular hours? I usually squeeze in a few hours on Sat and/or Sun. It’s mostly just to prep for the week ahead or try to get ahead on the never-ending to-do list. It helps me feel a little more in control, but honestly, I wish I didn’t have to do it at all. What about you? Do you find yourself logging back on after hours or over the weekend? How often does it happen, and do you feel like it helps or just adds to the burnout?

Never. I started a side hustle which actually has turned into an amazing source of income so I spend my time and energy there after hours

That’s awesome! It’s great when a side hustle turns into something rewarding. Would you mind sharing what the side hustle is?

Very rarely. I'll work a few extra hours during the week as needed, but I try to keep that to a minimum. I flamed out of my last job because I had no work life balance, and I'm determined not to let it happen again. Setting boundaries with work is so important for your mental health.

That sounds really wise. Setting clear boundaries is key to avoiding burnout and keeping your mental health in check. Quality over quantity for sure!

Never! Boundaries are important to a sustainable and fulfilling life.

I definitely do a couple of hours of work on the weekend. I wish I didn't have to, but I know my work week is just too busy to be doing all the admin stuff I need to do during business hours. I'd like to get to a point where that's no longer the case, but I'm unsure what to cut back on and still stay on top of everything I need to do.

I hear you - it’s tough balancing everything when the weekdays are packed. Finding that sweet spot between work and downtime is definitely a challenge!

Occasionally, I try to limit it now. I was working every day and then wondering why I was so tired all the time. For me, it was heading to burnout, and that’s very hard to come back from. Making the changes now to hopefully avoid it.

That’s so important! Recognizing the signs early and setting limits can really save you from burnout. Good on you for making those changes!

I will literally never work on a weekend. I sometimes work over in the evenings mid week, but I always have the line of allowing myself the weekends to fully switch off

I love that boundary - weekends are sacred! Fully switching off is so important for recharging.

Very minimally. I decided a while ago that I was done with the hustle and grind. I want to live my life and enjoy my time off. I really don't work outside my work hours unless it is some sort of emergency, and it almost never is.

I respect that mindset; it’s so important to protect your personal time and avoid unnecessary stress. Quality of life matters most!

Never, as it becomes a norm and is expected of you in the future.

Agreed, once you start working weekends, it quickly becomes the new normal and hard to break away from.
