I don’t get back to everyone in a meaningful manner, I do try to at least send some kind of acknowledgment though. There is a lot on my plate day to day, and it does take time to get back to somebody, look through the notes, and provide something personalized back. Plus being mindful that we are inviting a problem by doing that.

Our policy is to write a polite and businesslike rejection letter. But we do not provide feedback. First and foremost, there are legal reasons, we don't want something we say to be misconstrued and potentially used to generate a lawsuit. And, just in a practical sense, if we're not going to be working with someone we can't be taking time to offer them job search advice.

this makes sense
I usually try and get back within a week or so, but it's low priority for me. I try and let them know that I'm working on it so that way they don't feel like they were ghosted. But I usually have so much to do in the course of a day that sometimes I forget.

it can be easy to forget even when it's unintentional
I used to feel guilty when I couldn’t reply, but then I started blocking 30 minutes every Friday just for follow-ups. A friend in recruiting told me she made a template for common feedback themes, so when she was swamped, she could still give people closure without burning out. I am trying that now, and it saves a lot of my time while I feel good about it.
