Howdy parents, if you have Bright Horizons backup care through your employer you may be able to submit reimbursements. It depends if your employer is opted in but generally you can convert 40 hours from your backup care bank to $500. The only requirement is that you’re working when care takes places and that the caretaker is not someone in your household. Stating this because I was completely unaware that was a benefit for us🫠

For everyone asking you book like you would regularly book backup care. After selecting the days instead of center care or in-home care you’d select care reimbursement

I just checked and I don’t see that as an option…it’s just Care Centers or In home care on my page

My old company reimbursed $125 per day for 15 days, plus more if you have a newborn, not 40 hours. I used all of it.

Similar here as it caps at $2k per fy. It’s insane how many people leave it on the table.

I have BH and never heard of this. Is there a link? I def only use a couple days a year when I’m desperate and would prefer cash

like

But doesn't it have to actually be for when your normal care falls through? My understanding is you can't just use it to reimburse your normal care

like

They don’t make me submit regular backup care first. Which works out since I usually stay working past the 6:30 cutoff they have at centers.

Also BH is really lax when it defines things like this. They told me normal care can even be things like summer and winter break where school is considered normal care.

Omg really?! Do you have to call in and ask about it or how does that work? I have bright horizons and never heard of this

How do we reimburse?

Just venting. College friend (same ethnicity but came to US with family as a kid) told me she might get a new job offer w a smaller firm, 50% pay bump. We currently work at comparable big firms but her pay is already higher than mine (hers include stocks, mine doesn’t). We did equally well in college & I know I’m just as smart. Can’t help but feel like my career’d have been much better if I did not need sponsorship. Smaller firms don’t sponsor so I work at a big firm but pay isn’t great 🙄

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

I’m an accounting advisory M2 in Los Angeles and hoping to find a position around $150k in industry. However a recruiter said that’s too high and I should be looking more around $130-140k, I can’t tell though if she’s being honest or just hoping I’ll take a smaller salary so that she can get an easier commission. Thoughts?

I make $101K base salary as a Consultant/Specialist at Accenture Federal in Washington, DC. My husband is a teacher making $55K. We’re getting by with our mortgage and regular student loan payments, but it’s not enough to do much else. We also want to start a family in a few years. What move could I make to hit $150K base? So many of you are making unbelievable amounts… I don’t know how to keep up.
